International Perspectives
This chapter by Eric Emerson, from a forthcoming book (August 22, 2007) places current knowledge about developmental disabilities in a wide global context, with a special focus on low and middle-income economies. It addresses three issues : “international variation in the causes and prevalence of developmental disabilities, international variation in the life experiences of people with developmental disabilities and international variation in the understanding and meaning of developmental disabilities” (p.594).
